Sat., October 24th,2009 – 7:00 PM @ the Bremerton Performing Arts Center. Dr. Irene Bowling, a WSMTA co-founding member, will be the soloist with the Bremerton Symphony, performing the beautiful Piano Concerto in A minor by Robert Schumann at their first concert of the 2009/2010 season with a wonderful program: "The Glories of Middle Europe". Also included on the program will be Dvorak's “New World” Symphony and the “Magic Flute” Overture by Mozart. For more information, visit www.bremertonsymphony.org (click on "Tickets").

         Dr. Irene Bowling, director and founder of Bowling Music Studios and SeattleSoundFX, has been a resident of Kitsap County since 1981, and is well known to Washington state audiences as concert artist, teacher, lecturer, and adjudicator. Dr. Bowling has been a concerto soloist with the Bremerton Symphony several times in the last 28 years and also with the Port Townsend and Bainbridge orchestras. Solo concert appearances have been an annual event across the state in addition to performances in England, Germany, and Mexico. Dr. Bowling has been featured on King FM, cable TV, King 5 Evening Magazine T.V. show, N.W. Cable News, KONA T.V. and radio in eastern Washington.                                              
       Dr. Bowling received her Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from Arizona State University, Master of Music from the University of Maryland and Doctorate from the University of Washington in 1989. Her teachers include Eugene Pridonoff, Thomas Schumacher, Santiago Rodriquez, Neal O’Doan, John T. Moore, Craig Sheppard and masterclasses with Leon Fleisher. A recipient of numerous scholarships and awards, she travelled twice on separate grants to England where she researched British contemporary piano music, lectured and performed. Dr. Bowling studied music theory and composition under acclaimed British composers Anthony Milner, Jonathan Harvey, and Michael Finnissy. Additional piano and composition studies have included the University of the Pacific, Stockton, California; Royal College of Music, London; University of Sussex, Brighton, England; and pedagogical technology seminars at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky.
                                                                                        
      Dr. Bowling is a member of the Kitsap and Seattle chapters of Music Teacher’s National Association and founding member of West Sound Chapter. She has taught piano at the University of Maryland and Olympic College in Bremerton, Washington. Acclaimed as one of the most outstanding teachers in the state, her students have garnered prestigious awards and scholarships and have gained admission into Eastman School of Music, Juilliard, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and major music departments throughout the country.
 
Sat., February 6th, 2010 – 7:00 PM @ the Bainbridge Island Commons. Fifth Annual Young Composers Concert.  It is sponsored by the Bainbridge Community Piano Association and is held annually in conjunction with the Washington State Music Teachers Association Young Composers Project. The Young Composers Concert is open to all young composers in the region.

Young Composers Forum
Young Composers is a place of music where a composer or musician can communicate, share, and collaborate with other musicians about music, composition, performance and repertoire. This music site hosts many musicians of different experiences and styles in the music forum, and the forum contains an excellent resource for any musician. Musicians of all types, ranging from amateurs to the professional of all ages are welcome to offer their own advice in this music forum. As this music forum grows, many new musicians will join, and this place will soon become an extremely valuable place to get opinions, business tips, and ways to get your music out to the world.
