Information:

Kathy Strickland has been a member of WSMTA since 1969. She has held many positions, first in the Tacoma Chapter, then as a charter member of the Gig Harbor Chapter. She has served in almost every position locally, including president, in both chapters. She has been State Ethics Chairman for a number of years. She was State Convention chair in 1991. She has been adjudicating throughout the state for the past 20 years. She has also presented numerous programs for conventions, Leadership Conferences and various chapters.

She holds a Bachelor and a Master of Music degree in piano performance from Indiana University. She first taught piano at Cottey College in Nevada, Mo., before coming to Wash. where she was Assistant Professor of Music at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma. She now has a private studio in Gig Harbor, where she teaches many students and is involved in the community.

Kathy has performed often around the state since moving here. She has done a considerable amount of chamber music performing with various instrumentalists. Because of her love of the medium she has created two separate piano trio programs sponsored by the Gig Harbor chapter of WSMTA for students, one with professional string players which is now in its 12th year and the other an all-student trio program which began four years ago.
